How to Make Curry Powder

How to make curry powder and curry chicken. How to make your own curry powder, and a recipe for curry chicken

Curry powder is an amazing spice and can make food taste absolutely delightful. You can of course buy it at the store already made but if funds are low or you don't feel like going to the store and you are having a craving for curry if you have reasonably stocked spice collection you can make curry powder yourself. It also would make a nice hostess gift for someone to present them with some homemade curry powder, made by you.  Here is what you need to make curry powder yourself in your own home.

Curry Powder Ingredients

4 tablespoons grond turmeric

10 teaspoons ground cumin

4 teaspoons ground black pepper

1 teaspoon ground Coriander

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon powdered mustard

1/2 teaspoon ground fennel seeds

1 teaspoon Kosher salt

3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

2 pinches of ground cloves

2 teaspoons garlic powder

5 teaspoons onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

You will need a jar that will hold 1 1/2 cups of curry powder. The jar should be glass and should have a tight lid. It should also be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized and then thoroughly dried before adding hte ingredients. It is also helpful to have a funnel although not necessary if the jar has a wide enough top on it.

Place all of the ingredients in the jar, place the lid on very tightly and shake the jar until all of the ingredients are blended together. If the jar is not big enough to allow the ingredients to be shook up then mix all the ingredients together in a bowl first and then use a funnel to place them in the jar.

Seal the lid up tightly and store the curry powder in a cool dry place such as a cabinet. The mixture should last a minium of 9 months as long as it is stored properly. Be sure to label the jar so you know what it is.

As stated above this will make 1 1/2 cups of curry powder.

The whole thing is messed up. Most of what I typed is not on here, the ingredients for the curry powder are missing and I also had an entire recipe for curry chicken in the article too. I don't know what to do about it. I already went back in and tried to repost but it came out the same way again. Hopefully it is a bug that will get fixed.

Yap, the ad blocked your the rest of your article.

Viola!! I knew this would be a great recipe so I voted it up and I intend to use in one of my recipes for a beef dish.

Of course I will link it back to you, and maybe some of you guys will not mind me doing the same with some of your recipes. I have been working on this website for the past 6 months and there iwll be a section designated for people who want to share tier recipes on the site...Let me know and thanks

I have always bought my curry powder in bulk, but I am tempted to make my own after reading this fine article. I have printed it out and added it to my loose-leaf cook book in the spice section.
